about the photographer

Hello, I'm

jenn sanchez

For a long time, I tried to fit into the "perfect" box - the one where everything is polished and predictable. But life isn’t always composed that way. Based in Central Florida, I operate as Composition Jenn, a name given to me by my father because he saw a gift in me long before I was ready to see it in myself.

I don't just take pictures to document what things look like; I take them to remember what it feels like to finally be present. As a neurodivergent artist, I notice the high-definition details that others might walk right past. My goal isn't just to show you a "pretty photo", it’s to invite you to stand next to me in that quiet moment of awe, where the noise of the world finally fades away.

My Photographic Journey

From a Decade of Silence to a New Beginning

My heart first awakened to photography as a child alongside my father, but for over a decade, my camera sat silent. Living with AuDHD and CPTSD, I often felt like an "NPC" in my own life - a background character watching from the sidelines, overwhelmed by a world that felt too loud and an "imposter syndrome" that told me I didn't belong...

I walked away from my passion entirely.

That changed at the start of 2023, after a new camera arrived as a Christmas gift; a silent vote of confidence from my husband when I wasn't yet ready to believe in myself.

Surrendering to the lens again has been my greatest healing. It stripped away the imposter syndrome and replaced it with a deep, quiet sense of belonging. Through the shutter, I found my grounding. Whether I’m capturing the raw power of a sports car or the untamed spirit of wildlife, every click is a moment of pure connection. I am still learning every day, and I am constantly touched by the people who have supported me on this road back to myself.

The Path to Thrive

My goal is simple: to help, teach, and inspire. I want to show anyone struggling with their own "quiet years" that picking back up an old passion isn't just a hobby - it can be a path to truly thriving.

Photography has been my strongest advocate for mental health, helping me process the world in a way nothing else could. I was recently honored to have my photography of the Artemis II launch published by Florida Today, a milestone that reminded me that it is never too late to show up for yourself. If my journey inspires just one person to pick their camera (or their paintbrush, or their pen) back up, then I have found my purpose.

When the Camera is Down

When I’m not behind the lens, you can usually find me exploring a new wildlife preserve, at the track racing, under the hood of a project car, losing myself in a video game, or slowing down in the kitchen. It’s a busy world, but it’s mine, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

my parents

My Dad has always inspired me with his own photography; he didn't just hand me my first camera, he handed me a way to understand the beauty and composition of the world through his eyes.

My Mom is my best friend and my biggest cheerleader. She is the first person to pull me out of discouragement and the one who is always asking to see my latest work, showering me with the kind of love and support that makes me want to keep going. I truly couldn’t do this without her.

Together, they have provided the emotional support and encouragement I needed to believe that my voice behind the lens actually mattered.

my husband

The one who made the 'big dreams' possible, even when they felt completely out of reach. He is a builder and a creator by nature, and he carries that same spirit into how he supports my work. He is the person who recognized the silence in my life and chose to end it by putting a camera back in my hands.

He helped build the framework I needed to stand on my own again. By providing the tools, the technical stability, and the steady ground I required to start over, he gave me the chance to finally chase the light. He creates the quiet, reliable space that allows me to focus on the art, and I wouldn’t be on this journey without the solid ground he helped me level.

Turbo & Furrari

My dachshund, Turbo, has taught me more about resilience than I ever thought possible. Watching his battle with IVDD showed me that patience truly pays off and that you should never give up hope; it has been an honor to help him through his recovery just as he has helped me through mine. He is the best little model I could ask for and a frequent face in my work.

Then there is Furrari, my cat - the best little 'pest' I could ask for. Whether she’s sitting on my lap while I edit or getting into trouble by stealing my pens and unplugging my computer, she reminds me not to take things too seriously.

They are my daily reminders to take a break, stay present, and keep moving forward, no matter what.

In memory of joshua

Everything I capture is a tribute to my brother, Joshua.

He was my best friend and the one person who truly understood me. He is the reason I’m into cars, and the reason I’m so driven to document the world around me. When he passed, I lost myself for a long time, and some days, I still feel a bit lost... but now, I am choosing to honor him with every shutter click.

Joshua fought a long, courageous battle with cancer for many years, yet he remained faithful and high-spirited through it all. His journey taught me that life is short and unpredictable, and that time is something we must never take for granted. I pick up the camera because he no longer can; I do it to keep his spirit alive and to make him proud. He is the reason I seek out the light, even on the days when it’s hard to find.

Above all, I am grateful to God for the second chances, the light He allows me to capture, and the strength to keep creating; “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights...” — James 1:17

FAQ

What gear do you use?

I’m a firm believer that the best camera is the one in your hand. I started my journey with much humbler tools, and while I’ve retired a few lenses over the years, they all taught me so much.

Today, I’m incredibly grateful to work with equipment that can keep up with the beauty of the world around me. From the speed of the track to the stillness of a wildlife preserve, these tools help me tell the stories I’m lucky enough to witness.

What's your editing philosophy?

I believe the best edit is the one that feels like the truth. I prioritize authenticity and naturalism, focusing on enhancing the light and honest colors that were already there. My goal isn’t to create a perfect, artificial image, but to ensure the final frame reflects the raw beauty and emotion of how I experienced that specific moment.

How can I stay up to date with your photography?

The best way to follow my journey is on Instagram, where I post new work and behind-the-scenes glimpses multiple times a week.

You can also find me on Facebook and Threads for more updates and community conversation. I’m also considering a return to Twitch (and possibly Youtube) in the future to share the editing process through live photography streams and videos... so stay tuned!

You can find me across these platforms mentioned by searching for Composition Jenn.

Do you offer portraits or event photography?

To ensure I’m providing the highest quality and most authentic work, I choose to focus exclusively on the subjects I am most passionate about, as seen through my portfolio.

I am not currently set up for, or offering, portrait or event photography. I believe in staying true to my specific niche to give my subjects the attention and specialized skill they deserve.

Do you offer photoshoots?

I am open to a limited number of private photoshoots, mostly for automotive and pet subjects. If you’d like to collaborate on a session, please contact me directly. I’d love to discuss your vision, expectations, and pricing to see if we’re a good fit!

Can I share your photos?

Absolutely! I love seeing my work shared. I only ask that you give credit by tagging me (Composition Jenn) and refrain from applying additional filters to the images. This helps ensure the 'honest' editing and natural light we worked so hard to capture stays exactly as intended.
